Spanish term

Sirena ecológica

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Spanish Royal Decree (Ambulance Regulation)
I wonder if anyone can help me shed some light on this term. It's from a regulation for the technical specifications for ambulances in Spain. My understanding of "ecológica" in this context is that the siren must be "environmentally friendly" somehow, i.e., it doesn't deafen people basically, and should be quiter at night time.

Here's the context:

"1.2. Señalización luminosa y acústica.

Señalización luminosa y acústica de preferencia de paso ajustada a lo dispuesto por la normativa vigente. Señales acústicas de prioridad con regulador de potencia generador de al menos 3 tonos y equipo de megafonía incorporado con altavoz de al menos 35 vatios de potencia localizado en la parte anterior del techo del vehículo. Sirena ecológica de día y noche."

Obviously "environmentally friendly" or "eco-friendly" don't work in this context...

Any ideas anyone? Many thanks in advance.

decibel friendly

how about that one?
Note from asker:
Thanks again John. Ha, this gave me a chuckle too :)) Might be a bit too jovial for a Decree though. I love your idea of introducing 'decibel' into the rendition. I'm getting fairly reasonable hits for 'decibel-controlled', so might go for that... Cheers.

agree neilmac : Could be seen as taking the jollity it a bit too far but again, why not?

Note from asker:
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how a sound can be "eco-friendly" or "environmentally friendly" or "ecological" in any way... Most of your links don't work, and I'm not even remotely convinced of this answer, regardless of what others might think. Thanks.

Damn, I was hoping for something about mermaids when I opened the topic.
Note from asker:
Haha, I wish!! I'd much prefer to be translating something about mermaids than this godforsaken Decree! Thanks, John :)

Ecological siren

"Ecological siren" accurately captures the full breadth of the meaninglessness of the original.
Note from asker:
Thanks, Tobias. Yep, this is just one term from a 16k+ word Royal Decree, which the authors seem to have invented their very own language for! Totally agree, it's a term that is completely meaningless... however, I needed to make it, somehow, meaningful in English, as it's for Brussels... I was tempted to just put "ecological", but just couldn't bring myself to!
