recognise a claim in favour of somebody Explanation: Hi, The sentence could be translated as "It is requested that a claim in the amount of € x be recognised in favour of the bank." That's how insolvency proceedings work. You, being one of the creditors, file your claim against the debtor and it is either recognised by the insolvency administrator (provided that there are sufficient insolvency funds in the kitty from the liquidation of the insolvent's assets to settle your claim and the regulations under applicable law are fulfilled and you have filed the claim properly) or you are out of luck.
