Be careful: contempt is different from "rebeldía". Under Argentine Procedural Law, "rebeldía" may be declared for a number of reasons (failure to appear in court, abandonment of proceedings, etc.) Contempt implies wilfull disobedience, a misconduct. We used to associate such concept to the idea of "desacato", that is: desobedience at court.

Moreover, \"rebeldía\" may only be declared in relation to the parties to a lawsuit (plaintiff / defendant), while I think that even a witness may be held in contempt.
