Creo que aquí están usando "declinar" en el sentido de pasar de una cosa a otra, es decir, derivar. He visto "declinar" usado en este sentido. Creo que no tiene nada que ver con "rehusar, rechazar, etc."

Por supuesto, "testaron" es un horrible Spanglish de "tested". "Los conceptos se pusieron a prueba."

La misma palabra \"tested\", te indica que no fue que se rechazaron los conceptos, sino que \"surgieron, se generaron\" y esos mismos conceptos fueron puestos a prueba.

I think this is what it means, and I think it has more to do with decline in the grammatical sense (not used quite correctly, but that is very typical in these marketing texts--I translate this stuff all the time). Have a look:

Here's what the DRAE has for one meaning of declinar:

2. tr. Gram. En las lenguas con flexión casual, enunciar las formas que presenta una palabra como manifestación de los diferentes casos.

7: inflect for number, gender, case, etc., "in many languages, speakers decline nouns, pronouns, and adjectives"

The idea that I get is that they are looking at the different nuances, what the concepts bring to mind for different people. I remember declining nouns in Latin--you end up with different forms of the same root word, depending on the case, and I think that is exactly what this is--different interpretations.

If it were my translation, I would use "looked at from all angles" or maybe even "analyzed," but would include a note saying that it does not appear to be a standard use of the word (I've never seen it in any of my marketing texts and it's not in my marketing dictionary), but this appears to be the sense.

BTW, to teju: testar is also marketing-speak. I do see this one in every market research text I get, and it's in the specialized dictionary.

  -> well, Jane, I don't translate French nor do I claim to; I stick to Spanish...and even if that's what it is in French doesn't mean it's the same in Spanish. I can tell you I've never seen this used in Spanish mkting texts--and the Q is SP>EN, not FR>EN.
