Spanish term

objetivandose

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Cardiology medical report EEG
With reference to the EEG

#Estudio de control que muestra una evolucion favorable con respecto al trazado realizado hace unos dias, no objetivandose la depresion del voltaje vista entonces ni crisis electricas.

I have

Case-control study that illustrates a positive development compared to the tracing carried out a few days earlier, not including/analysing/taking into account?? the voltage drop accounted for at that point nor electrical failures.

a glaring error?
thanks all

Joseph Tein Jul 31, 2011:
Cardiology ... this isn't!. (Commenting on the way you've categorized your question). EEG -- electroencephalography -- measures electrical activity in the brain. For Cardiology, it would be ECG (electrocardiography) ... measuring the electrical activity of the heart.

Also, I notice your proposed translation says: "Case-control study ..." NO ... "case-control" is something completely different in a different context, describing the way groups are studied in a research design. "Estudio de control" is a _follow-up study_, a re-testing or re-examining of a patient or subject after they've received treatment, or after some time has passed.

Just noticed Carmen's comment ... I hadn't seen it when I wrote this. Yes, exactly.
Carmen Gabás Jul 31, 2011:
Hi katywalker,
A case-control is a type of research study. Taking into consideration the context in your text I think "estudio de control" refers to a follow up control.

No, I don't think this is a glaring error but you are on the right track. Better wording doesn't seem to come to me. I like taking into account.

(The follow-up EEG does not show the voltage depression as seen in the previous tracing.)

agree Joseph Tein : This is perfect. Also, an alternative might be "with no sign of" ... but the meaning is the same.
