single session endodontic treatment for single-rooted tooth/Single visit root canal treatment for a Explanation: single tooth/single visit pulpectomy for a single root tooth As you can see this has been driving me crackers (it probably did you too). Anyway, hoping this helps you in some way. My excuse is that I hardly ever translate Sp-En dental texts - in fact never! Well, I am reluctant to use “biopulpectomy” as this occurs on many, many “foreign” sites. Although I think “biopulpectomy” means single session endodontic treatment [the same applied for “uniradicular” = not popular at all on bona fide En sites]. ] [Endodontic treatment in a single session--biopulpectomy] [Article in Portuguese] Hizatugu R, Pereira AA Jr, Scarparo L.MeSH Terms Pulpectomy ... www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubM... - Similar pages Uniradicular = single root canal Stedman’s Sp-Sp Dicc. I think I may have finally twigged A lot of translations with "biopulpectomy" have been translated from the Latin languages...so I looked up the French in Flammarion: Biopulpectomie: s.f. uniradicular/single-rooted total biopulpectomy/pulpotomy Explanation: The use of "uniradicular" or "single-rooted" is indifferent. Biopulpectomy means the treatment where only a part of the pulp is taken out. That's why the use of "bio-": life. The root canals are still vital... but the pulp chamber is taken out. That would be a "total biopulpectomy"... where the whole chamber is taken. A sinonim would be "pulpotomy". It's used to minimize confusions. Pulpectomy is the whole root canal treatment. And biopulpectomy is pretty similar. So, you can also say pulpotomy... means exactly the same... and is widely used, as well. Hope to help you in any way...
