Este término suele referirse al enfermero(a) que está en la sala de operaciones y le pasa los intrumentos al cirujano, y que suele haber preparado el campo del paciente.
La función del técnico de sala, también conocido como instrumentista o "scrub
nurse", es también ayudar en el conteo de utensilios quirúrgicos y organizar la mesa de los instrumentos.

Se utiliza el término 'scrub' en inglés. The nurse scrubs just like the surgeon does. Other surgical nurses do not need to scrub (wash with BETADINE or similar soaps). If you are not scrubbed, you may not handle sterilised objects. This includes: equipment, patient's sterile field, helping the surgeon to glove or to tight the gown, etc....
