A finales del siglo XIX, Juan Bautista Volta Beltrán era primer oficial colocador de los afamados Mosaicos Nolla, empresa que había fundado en Meliana Miguel Nolla i Bruixet. Como destacado especialista en trabajos que requerían tanto oficio y habilidad, Volta viajó por medio mundo para ejecutar encargos de altos vuelos. Era cuando los mosaicos que se fabricaban en este pueblo de L'Horta Nord ya empezaban a considerarse como el no va más de la innovación y la calidad y un claro signo de distinción.
Según las investigaciones que viene realizando sobre Nolla el cronista local Vicente Ruiz, Juan Bautista Volta pavimentó con teselas que salieron de los hornos de Meliana, entre otras obras destacadas, el Teatro Principal de Buenos Aires, el Casino Viejo de Montecarlo y el Palacio de Liria en Madrid, residencia de los duques de Alba.
