Una torta de un metro y pico/ una bagueta de un metro 20 Explanation: In Spain, this would be *torta*--the kind of sandwich that is served on long loaves of bread, as opposed to sliced bread. And, of course, you would want to change this to metric (I'm giving you a way to say this "approximately"). In Mexico, they have been selling "baguetas" recently, that look very much like subs to me. One of the most popular food stops for young folks on our street in Xalapa was the "baguetas" shop, downstairs from us. Xalapa has lots of university students and young office workers, and they headed for that place from early in the morning until 11 or 12 at night, much later than any other place on that busy street. Are you really wanting to buy a sub in Spanish??? Personal experience (and then some...) |

see below please Explanation: Actually I agree with all three answers. You may want to use feet or if just descriptive metro y pico. As far as what to call it, sandwich is used in Latin America but connotes two pieces of flat bread. Tortas on the other hand are very much like submarines - in fact it's my secret little belief that hoagies, submarines, etc were invented by someone who fell in love with Mexican tortas - they're pretty much the same thing. So I guess I would use torta because it conveys the same picture as a submarine. una torta de metro y pico (a little over a meter) or una torta de cuatro pies de largo (four feet in length) Well, hope this helps you some.
