Science - Petroleum Eng/Sci / Shale oil well exploitation
Spanish term or phrase: matriz
Hi All,

I am translating a document on Shale gas, and the term "matriz" appears throughout, defined in the glossary as

"granos finos que se encuentran situados entre los clastos de la roca"

All the research I've done suggests the term "matrix", however "matrix" is also used throughout the document, defined in the glossary as:

"parte sólida de la roca compuesta por diversos minerales; excluye los fluidos contenidos en los poros"

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to translate "matriz"?

I think it's just a reference to the rock matrix.
