Spanish term or phrase: El mejor Zea
Hola!

Zea at his best
Explanation:
Or "the best of Zea". I think this is almost certainly what it means: the best work of the author. It's quite a common turn of phrase when referring to an author or artist. I think it's unlikely that it refers to the better/best of two or more authors called Zea. I don't know of any others, and I think it would be an odd thing to say anyway.

For "los afanes de", maybe "the concerns of"?

Another example of "el mejor" used like this:

"Desde mi punto de vista, el mejor Lorca, salvo excepción de algunos textos anteriores, es el que surge a partir de Poeta en Nueva York"
