Why are you studying the Spanish language? Explanation: Is the word *idioma* intriguing you? It certainly did that to me when I started studying Spanish. It means the same thing as *lengua*, that is, *language* Good luck in your studies. |

Why are you studying Spanish? Explanation: I prefer the usage of the gerund "studying" instead of "study" because the action is supposed to have been happening for some time. Then, there is no need of using the word "language" at the end because it is understood. |

See below Explanation: "Why are you studying Spanish (language)?" In this case you can supress the word "language" because we know that you are talking about a certain language and there is not possibility to get confussed. Good Luck! |
