Bueno, ya llegué al final de mis documentos (¡ufffff!), aunque eso no significa que he acabado, noooooo, todavía falta la edición, las ilustraciones, etc., pero igual no hubiera podido avanzar sin la ayuda de todos ustedes :O)

Ahora tengo una duda acerca de los nombres de diversas instituciones.

Como ven, al final aparece una lista larga de distintas personas involucradas en este proyecto, con las respectivas organizaciones a las cuales pertenecen.

Mi duda es si debo traducir al español los nombres de las instituciones que aparecen en inglés.

Lo más lógico sería que no, puesto que en esa lista, junto con los nombres en inglés, también aparecen nombres en francés y en español y creo que hasta en alemán y portugués, que dejaron así en la versión original en inglés.

Pero igual me asalta la duda porque sé que hay nombres establecidos en español para algunas de ellas.

Por ejemplo:
UNDP-GEF = PNUD-FMAM
The United States-Mexico Foundation for Science, Mexico City, Mexico = La Fundación México-Estados Unidos para la Ciencia, México D.F., México

Y así. Entonces, si no traduzco algunos, ¿no debo traducir los otros? Incluso mencionan al Ministro de Desarrollo Sostenible de Bolivia, pero el nombre está en inglés (!). Que yo sepa, el idioma oficial de Bolivia es el español.

Estoy hecha un lío. A lo largo de todos los 15 documentos anteriores he estado traduciendo los nombres luego de verificar en la Internet si tenían nombre oficial, etc.

Y ahora no sé qué regla aplicar.

Explanation:
If there's an "official" translation, I would use it (e.g. FMI = IMF) ... otherwise leave the original and give an approximation in parenthesis. This is always a tricky issue in a translation of this nature but that would be my modus operandi :)
