Spanish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Accounting
Spanish term or phrase:margen actividad financiera
This is an entry in a profit and loss statement. When googled, there are only 40 hits which makes me think it is not a common usage. Can anyone tell me what would be the correct entry on a P&L in English. Thanks so much
I agree with Alfredo; if you have "margen actividad financiera" in the P&L, it means Financial profits i.e. profits generated by financial activities; if you have it in, say, the Letter to the Shareholders or the Notes, it may mean the % spread obtained.
Ronnie: "margen actividad financiera" is the Gross Profit of a company doing business in the financial sector. On the other hand, "Resultados Financieros" is generally related to income that has nothing to do with the core business of a given company. HTH
Yes, I understand. And I will use one or the other. I guess what I'm really trying to do is make sure that I understand what this is, which I now do based on your aswers. I have a series of these P & L's. Some of them have Resultados Financieras in the same P&L section. Can I assume that "margen actividad financiera" and "resultados financieros" are the same? I really appreciate the help.
Okay, I see that you are both going in the same direction. Are we assuming that this means profits due to investments? And if so shouldn't it be "financial profits / loss" or "financial results". ¡Help!

Thank you very much, both of you. The comments have really cleared things up for me.
