flower water (perfume barato)

Explanation:
Hola. Es el perfume de los pobres (sobre todo si bailan el tango pues las distancias son cortas...)
Enlace 1: "Agua de Florida
El agua de Florida era el lujo de los pobres. No había familia de barrio que no tuviera en el tocador una botellita de agua de Florida. Con esta agua se rociaba el pañuelo y era señal de elegancia sacarlo a relucir para que su aroma se esparciera por ahí y la gente pensara:
—¡Qué bien huele este señor!"
Enlace 2; "COLONIAS:
Agua florida, Agua kananga, Agua Divina..." Ya ves, haberlas haylas...y muchas más. En el siguiente enlace encontrarás muchos (pero que muchos) ejemplos de "flower water":http://www.google.com/search?as_qt=p&as_q=flower water&as_eq...
Suerte :-)

Cologne/ Eau de Cologne/ Eau de Toilette/ Scent

Explanation:
"Agua Florida" is a very old term. It means cologne, eau de cologne, eau de toilette. Florida comes from the word "flor". Flor= Flower. Thus, the scent is usually that of flowers, flowers of any kind.

In the past, it was believed that smelling a flower scent would make you feel better. I remember my grandmother using the term "agua florida" and also smelling and using some cologne when she felt tired or slightly dizzy.

I have not heard anyone say "agua florida" for the last twenty years or so but ,undoubtedly, that is exactly what "agua florida" means.=Cologne.

Why?

Explanation:
It is surprising how the askers frequently ignore the best answers.
I think that non native spanish speakers should abstain from translating into spanish unless they are convinced that their knowledge is good enough.
