Spanish term or phrase: dibujante
Text about art, i.e., "dibujante e ilustrador" or "pintor y gran dibujante". Neither "drawer" nor "sketcher" sound quite right to me in this context (is it just me??), so I was thinking of "sketch artist" but that sounds too much like police work. We're not talking about "draftsman" either, as it's not technical.

Any ideas?

artist and illustrator
Explanation:
I plugged "artist" and "illustrator" into Google and came up with a lot of artists who describe themselves exactly that way--artist and illustrator.

I hope that this helps.

I was looking for something specific that transmitted the idea of drawing, but maybe there just isn't a better way of saying this. "Artist" is probably good enough in this context. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Illustrator

Explanation:
Es la palabra que me parece más apropiada, esta es la profesión de uno de mis hermanos y este es el término que él usa.

cartoonist

Explanation:
Yes, I know that this is probably not what is meant. I just offer it as another possibility that may work in the context. Most likely, the option "artist and illustrator" offered by others is the best choice.
