Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. .... Explanation: ....Though it cost all you have, get understanding. This is from the New International Version of the Bible, but if you want to check other versions, look at the following page: http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible? You can enter "wisdom" and look for the Proverbs passage, or try entering Proverbs 4.7 in the section on the left. Good luck! as above |

wisdom is the principal thing; Explanation: therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding. This is the King James Version - the REAL Bible as far as most English speakers are concerned ;-) Berni King James Bible |

See commentary below: Explanation: If you are just trying to understand the passage, the answers already suggested give you the gist. If you are trying to translate the passage, don't. Instead, quote it from the version of the Bible that is most accepted by your target audience. For most modern U.S. evangelicals, that would be the New International Version or the King James Version. For more fundamentalist Protestants, that would be the King James Version (or perhaps the New King James Version). I repeat, for translation purposes, you need to find out what version your target audience uses and use that. Frank Johnson [email protected] |
