leitmotifs or ideologemes Explanation: as im "...the patriarchal leitmotifs of discourse..." I am inclined to the first option, being of earlier (19th century) coinage and directly related to the evolution of the definition: IDEOLOGEMES: a concept coined by Fredric Jameson in "The Political Unconscious" to identify the basic ideological unit ideas or themes embedded in a culture's langue. For Jameson ideologemes emerge from the class struggle of culture and provide an articulation of the abstracted class values of ideology, making these accessible and expressible in a variety of narrative forms. |
