Spanish term or phrase: tira de melindros (kind of pastry)
A kind of pastry, I have to translate this for a menu.

An explanation would be as useful as anything. Ta.

Note that the area is Catalonia.

I'm not quite sure how to translate this, although it could be considered to be some type of biscotti. See the attached website. It gives a full explanation in Spanish and shows pictures of how they are made. Hope this helps! :)

Here's a description....

This is the most famous chocolate shop in Barcelona. The specialties are melindros (sugar-topped soft-sided biscuits). http://jessicacates.tripod.com/labs/page3.html

They're shaped like "lenguas de gato", and the above is an accurate description.

melindros

Explanation:
Hi, Ailish

I wouldn't translate the name. It's originally "catalán" (sorry, don't know the English word). Here's the explanation:

LOS MELINDROS.
Los melindros o melindres son esos bizcochitos que se suelen ver en algunas pastelerías, formando bastoncitos sobre un papel en tiras. Estos bizcochos a parte de poderse comer así como están, acompañando un buen chocolate o café con leche, sirven como base a charlotas, puddines, flanes, etc.

(Recipe included in this site)

Se pican los melindros junto con el mazapán y los confites de anís; una vez troceados se mezcla con la carne picada, 100grs. de azúcar y un poquito de sal hasta que quede una pasta bien homogénea

Es picolen els melindros, junt amb el massapà i els anissos; un cop aixafats es barreja amb la carn picada, 100 grs de sucre i un polset de sal fins que quedi una pasta ben homogènia

Patricia
