Spanish to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Botany / Plants
Spanish term or phrase:lechuguines
Here's the context:
"La relación del desarrollo histórico de XXX es indivisible de su vínculo con el río XXX, su vertiginoso crecimiento y sus momentos de auge y declive han tenido como testigo mudo el imperturbable fluir de sus aguas, casi siempre acompañadas por los característicos lechuguines que a manera de diminutas islas vegetales motean su corriente."
I know what "lechuguines" refers to but not sure if there is an equivalent term in English. The best I've got so far is "aquatic plants" so any, more precise, suggestions welcome.
Thank you for pointing that out, Phil. The reason I hadn't picked up on it (I had checked the glossary and every other source available) is that the glossary entry appears under a different spelling - "lechugines" rather than (my) "lechuguines" and therefore didn't appear when I made the search.
