Yo me inclinaría por el más simple y directo: amortization (o amortisation, dependiendo de quien leerá la traducción) of capital. Incluso le puedes simplificar aún más y poner capital amortization.

I was doing more research on the topic and I agree with Pedrores that it should be \"principal\" and not capital. But amortization is understood as payment of the principal amount. Thus, the correct translation should be: principal amortization.

capital amortization

Explanation:
In Spanish we use amortization and depreciation to mean the same.
As far as I remember when translating into English, we use amortization for intangible assets and depreciation for tangible assets.
Marian.... are you there?
Could anybody confirm this?

repayment of principal

Explanation:
Aurora's right about depreciation vs. amortization, but this looks to me like applying the prevailing interest rate for each repayment of principal.

Still doesn't sound quite right to me. I'd want to analyze the paragraph.

principal payment, or principal repayment

Explanation:
Within financial terminology the correct translation for "capital" is "principal".

Capital has other meanings, but in the case of borrows the correct translation is this. (principal amount).

The other term (amortizar) has one exact meaning in borrows: payment to principal . In accounting, "amortizar" refers asset management.

The correct translation is: "principal payment"
