Spanish term or phrase: el pie de importe
el pie de importe
I am stumped on a short phrase regarding the labelling of bottles of wine. The regulations for labelling wine imported into Colombia state that the label must indicate “la marca commercial [de la importadora] y el pie de importe …”

English translation:customs entry document??
Explanation:
It sounds to me like "pedimento de importación" (an import declaration form which must be presented in order to clear customs through a Mexican customs broker. It is the primary import document and it states tariff classification, importer of record, importer’s business name and Tax ID No,etc). The number of the pedimento de importación used to be included in the labels of imported goods in Mexico until recently. The label also stated the country of origin, the importer and manufacturer or exporter's company name.
I know that in Colombia 'importe' is sometimes used to mean 'importación', and that there is a form in Colombia named 'Declaración de Importe Temporal' (see reference), but the rest is just a guess, so maybe someone else comes up with something better.
Good luck.

Thanks for your help. As I suspected, there seems to be no clear-cut answer to this one - probably a misprint or a piece of jargon. Your explanation seemed to me to be the most comprehensive, and most important of all satisfied the client!!

could it be an error and really be 'al pie el importe'?

Explanation:
Especially if the sentence continues in some way (...de X)

In which case, and referring to a label -> the brand/trading name of the importer and the amount of X at the end/bottom (of the label)

See the phrase in the web page below. I found no references for 'el pie de importe'.

Good luck.

Could this be a foot note.

Explanation:
A foot note about the import source, below the Importer's brand name.
