homeowner's insurance

Explanation:
(This reply is applicable to the U.S.
I don't know about U.K.)

It's called homeowner's insurance, which can cover various things, but for the owner who lives in his house covers damage/loss to/of the house and its contents, plus events away from home such as the theft of a handbag.

(....as differentiated from tenant's insurance, which covers the tenant's belongings only.)
