The policy quoted above comes from the CUNY Admission Center, which simply "shoots down" translations with any attempt to evaluate the credential. In this case, "class of X" constitutes an interpretation of the original document. Also, any ommissions and alterations of data invalidate the translation.
Most university admission committees, DHS, evaluation agencies etc. adhere to the following translation policy:
All translations must be: Complete and literal (word-for-word) with no attempts to interpret or evaluate the credential
Prepared in the same format as the original document
Typed on business or school letterhead/stationery
Signed by a translator attesting to familiarity with the foreign language
