Spanish term or phrase: barrancada
In a book about the hsitory of bridges. I guess I have the idea, but I cannot confirm "barrancada" as a noun:

"Como su nombre indica, se trata de una ancha barrancada por la que apenas circula agua, pero con una configuración típica de puente sobre río caudaloso a una cierta altura."
