Spanish term or phrase: Numero de niños en edad escolar no asisten a clases.
I'm translating a document on extreme poverty in Colombia which talks about the percentage of the school-age population who do not attend school. I am having issues knowing whether to translate 'clases' as 'school' or 'classes' as I do not feel the latter suggestion sounds natural in a British context. See below for examples of how it is used in the document:

El Mapa 4 muestra la población en edad escolar que no asiste a clases.

En total, son 71.947 niños que, según SISBEN, no asisten a clases estando en edad escolar.

Por lo anterior, se puede afirmar que el 34% de la población en edad escolar no asiste a clases según la información del SISBEN para 2016.

How would you translate 'clases' in these instances?

My suggestions are:

Map 4 shows the school-age population who do not attend classes

According to SISBEN (System for Selecting Beneficiaries of Social Programs), in total, there are 71,947 children who are of school- age that do not attend classes.

As a result, according to the information for 2016 given by SISBEN, we can establish that 34% of the school-age population do not attend classes.

I think you can omit "class/es" and simply say "not attending" (we know it's not church).
"Vietnam still has more than one million school-age children not attending (school)." (my brackets)
