Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation
Spanish term or phrase:maniobra a tierra
I need help with the wording of this phrase. I believe this is a grounded switchgear, but take a look at the rest. Any help is appreciated.
From a list of environmental characteristics of areas where power plants will be built:
-tension maxima de servicio
-tension soportada a frecuencia industrial a tierra
-tension soportada a los impulsos tipo rayo a tierra
-tension soportada a los impulsos tipo maniobra a tierra
Explanation: You (and e-cuesta) are mis-reading the source text. The term 'maniobra a tierra' does not exist!
'tension soportada a los impulsos tipo maniobra a tierra'
se lee así:
'tension soportada, respeto a tierra, de los impulsos provocados por las maniobras'
--> y puede traducirse (de forma convencional, sin preocuparse mucho de la claridad ...):
"rated switching impulse withstand voltage to earth" (see e-cuesta's answer - but note that nothing is 'switched to earth'.)
