(support) posts per rack/frame Explanation: Mounting and tracking Main articles: Photovoltaic mounting system and Solar tracker Solar modules mounted on solar trackers Ground-mounted photovoltaic system are usually large, utility-scale solar power plants. Their solar modules are held in place by racks or frames that are attached to ground-based mounting supports. Ground based mounting supports include: Pole mounts, which are driven directly into the ground or embedded in concrete. Foundation mounts, such as concrete slabs or poured footings Ballasted footing mounts, such as concrete or steel bases that use weight to secure the solar module system in position and do not require ground penetration. This type of mounting system is well suited for sites where excavation is not possible such as capped landfills and simplifies decommissioning or relocation of solar module systems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_panel#Mounting_and_track... Below is a slightly different version: 11.4. Structure of photovoltaic modules According to photovoltaic structures providers the supporting structure (columns, tubes, bars and levers) of photovoltaic modules normally is hot-dip galvanized steel (according to EN ISO 1461). All the elements will be bolted. Welding, drilling or cutting is not necessary on site. Main structure will be formed by foundation posts and rails, both produced by hot-dip galvanized steel profiles. Two foundation posts will form one support unit. This allows wider support distances and bigger module areas. The PV modules will be horizontally assembly on the rails with the appropriate fastening system to withstand the loads due to the weight of the PV panels and to those generated by weather conditions. http://investmentprojects.am/media/2017/02/128.pdf -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2018-06-19 16:30:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Metal frames Often used by commercial solar farm arrays. Metal frames come in a variety of layouts, two panels high in landscape, single panels in portrait etc etc, pretty much any set up you like is available. Usually set on concrete bases, these frames can help you make use of some dead ground. https://nakedsolar.co.uk/solar-pv/solar-panel-mounting/ ByrneLooby designed the solar panel frames and foundations for a range of solar farms on agricultural land throughout the UK. The solar farms ranged in capacity from 5 and 20GW of electricity and our responsibilities included supervising the ground investigation as well as designing the foundations and solar panel framing solutions. A key challenge of the project due to the number of solar panels involved was to develop foundation and frame solutions which were economic, robust and easy to install. We value engineered our pile designs allowing our client savings of time and materials and developed a number of frame options which allowed us to determine the most economical solution following close consultation with our client for each site. http://www.byrnelooby.com/projects/solar-farms-nationwide Panel Mounts At SolarTown, we carry solar panel racks for every solar panel installation style, allowing you to customize your solar array depending on your location and building or property specifications. https://solartown.com/store/catalog/panel-mounts/ |
