electrical core sampling, or core sampling using electric instruments?
Explanation:
The term actually comes from "carrotage" (fr.) and seems to fit your context, but the electric bit is what I'm none too sure of. There is an "electrical core sampling" in a Schlumberger report on the net, but that's about all there is.
