Spanish term or phrase: que descansa en un contexto discordante y erosivo sobre la serie infrayacente.
La parte superior es un grueso nivel de conglomerados de areniscas retrabajados y con presencia de fallas sinsedimentarias que descansa en un contexto discordante y erosivo sobre la serie infrayacente.

English translation:which lies both discordantly and erosively on the underlying series
Explanation:
This means "lies unconformably", but also gives info re. erosion which "unconformable" doesn't necessarily infer. "Erosively unconformably" just seems too ugly.

agree  S Ben Price: "series" odd, but I can't claim to know better.

-> Tx - series is just term for normal vertical succession, less important than a System.

agree  Enrique Espinosa: Series is a group of formations.

Reference: que descansa en un contexto discordante y erosivo sobre la serie infrayacente

Reference information:
Chris:

Maybe you do not notice it, but the problem with the majority of Ibotto's is that the Spanish text is absolutely wrong. For instance:

que descansa en un contexto discordante y erosivo sobre la serie infrayacente.

it´s perfectly bad. If an experienced geologist would be the one writing this report, the sentence should say:

que descansa en discordancia erosional sobre la serie infrayacente:

rests in erosional unconformity on the underlying series

I have found always a terrible series of mistakes in the Spanish text, so the English version can not be properly adapted. Some times a sentence is broken, and the terms are not the usual in modern geology (example: lutáceos, instead of lutitas). That´s the general problem with Ibotto, maybe he (or she) should review first teh Spanish report, and then try to make a good English translation

agree  Chris E: Enrique, I totally agree with you, as does my husband who is also a geologist. When I check with him he says "Who the hell wrote that??" The problem is that not all good scientists can write well. It's also hard to review a text if you're not an expert :)
