Spanish to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Government / Politics
Spanish term or phrase:como diagnosis de las tendencias
From a Mexican text, but the quotation is translated from the Italian. The client and the author are suggesting this translation of the phrase, but I'm not convinced: "as an acknowledgment of long-term trends in which the entire society recognizes itself” "
Este tipo de representación, sugiere Cerroni, “no se reduce a la representación de los intereses, sino que consiste en confeccionar una lex generalis omnium capaz de ordenar establemente la convivencia social, como diagnosis de las tendencias de largo plazo, en las cuales la sociedad entera pueda reconocerse.”
The client has rejected the use of "diagnosis" or "diagnostic" for this reason:
DIAGNOSIS VIENE DE DIAGOSTICO QUE DE ACUERDO CON LA REAL ACADEMIA ES "RECOGER Y ANALIZAR DATOS PARA EVALUAR PROBLEMAS DE DIVERSA NATURALEZA". I also feel very strongly that it makes no sense to say that law that establishes social order is a "diagnosis"--how could it be?
