Corregimiento (township)
Explanation:
In Columbia, "corregimiento" refers to small communities, smaller than (and sometimes administratively adjoined to) big cities.

In United Nations documents, the term is not translated, but rather retained in its indigenous form. See the following citation:

http://www.unhchr.ch/huridocda/huridoca.nsf/AllSymbols/538F0...$File/G0110261.pdf?OpenElement

"...members of the Autodefensas Campesinas de Córdoba y Uraba
(ACCU) burst violently into the corregimiento San Luis Beltrán in the municipality of Yondó,
department of Antioquia,...

...the Colombian Government informed the Special Rapporteur about
the abduction of the trade unionist Roberto Cañate Montealegre on 29 June 2000 on the road
between the corregimientos La Playa and Galicia, in the vicinity of Zarzal municipality,...

...the Colombian Government informed the Special Rapporteur
about the alleged disappearances of Maria Estrada, Jesús Flores Estrada, Orlando Babilla and
two other farmers on dates between 21 and 26 April 2000 in the corregimiento of Cerro Azul in
San Pablo municipality."

In Panama, where the English language influence is greater, the term "township" is sometimes used. I don't know if it is advisable to use it in non-Panamanian contexts.

I have seen some documents that use the expression "small community."
