Can anybody help with this. Because she works as a university lecturer, "clerical" or "office worker" doesn't sound appropriate. Also, what does contratado mean? that she is not permanent?

No implicit equivalent, I'm afraid, unless you can put "Lecturer", which is understood as fairly temporary (contract duration is determined by need and bears a set date). However, over here they can have Associate Professors, doctors, and other people working as "contratados administrativos" (a step up from the becarios). Big hullabaloo about this.

Nothing to do with being a clerk, BTW.
