Spanish to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Insurance
Spanish term or phrase:Solicitar se requiera
Hello everyone. I am having trouble with this particular usage (solicitar se requira). It is in the context of a petition that must be filed by an insurance company (with the hopes of not paying a claim) and a subsequent list of items that must be included in it. This is going from Spain SP to UK EN.
The first part goes like this:
XXX debe personarse en las actuaciones y presentar escrito por el que haga constar:
and the part I'm having trouble with is:
Solicitar se requiera a la entidad asegurada, XXXX, S.A, la aportación de las pólizas vigentes con anterioridad a un año de la fecha de inspección (19XX) y hasta la fecha del siniestro.
Here are my efforts:
XXX must enter an appearance at the proceedings and submit a petition that includes:
Request that the insured entity, XXXX, S.A, be required to furnish the policies in force from one year prior to the inspection (19XX) up to the date of the claim.
I also realize that I may not be translating "haga constar" correctly.
no prob! You could say "appear in person" to be a little more legal jargon-y... my inclination is always to simplify unless there are known set phrases. If you know it is a petition then use that but if not, I think "document" is as generic as "escrito"
Thanks! I was thinking "appear" but, as it's not "aparece" but "personarse", I was concerned that it might need to be proper legal jargon. Similarly with "petition", however, I think I will go with "document" instead.
