patents to life Explanation: I assume the notion is that of companies patenting life forms or life species modified by them. This arouses opposition, including the notion that you cannot patent life. In context I suggest "patents to life." Phil Berryman |

patents on living organisms Explanation: Agreed, "patents on life" or "life patents" just doesn't sound right. The above suggestion, although not exactly literal, conveys the meaning while tiptoeing through the philosophical-teleological minefield (without, I hope, tripping any triggers...!). |
