Context is an affidavit stating proof of education for a Masters Degree, it says:
"De inmediato el Presidente del Tribunal confirió a la examinada el Grado de...., quien, a su vez, prestó la promesa legal."
Explanation: This refers to the graduation ceremony, which, in some post-graduate faculties with not many students (only a few graduate each year), takes place around a table with a Bible upon it; the Dean, in the presence of the Rector, confers the mortarboard upon each of the new graduates and afterwards they pronounce the formula of the oath all together.
