Sounds more like "rescision of contract" Explanation: Normally, caducidad is either "expiry" or "lapse", but both imply an end to the validity due to the passing of a pre-agreed period of time. But a contract is rescinded for OTHER reasons (breach, non-compliance, force majeure, etc.) which are not really ordinary reasons. |

termination of the contract Explanation: (usual phrase in US), although "caducidad" is normally "expiration" - no grounds; simply time runs out. Exp. |

contract termination Explanation: If there are "causes", it is most probable that the contract is "terminated" by the parties involved, rather than simply expire. But it depends on the context. |

invalidity Explanation: I seem to be arriving too late on all the KudoZ questions today! However, Cabanellas Hoague gives: "invalidity (of will, contract, etc. due to lapsing)". |
