Spanish term or phrase:Fiebre aftosa a virus exóticos para el continente americano
"El país de procedencia está declarado libre de Fiebre aftosa a virus exóticos para el continente americano..."
This is from a Chilean animal health import certificate.
The first part - "The country is declared to be free from foot and mouth disease" - is clear, but I can't work out "a virus exóticos para el continente americano". I've seen bilingual certificates from the US and Canada that translate "Fiebre aftosa a virus exóticos" as just "foot and mouth disease"(leaving out the "a virus exóticos" part), but these certificates do not have "para el continente americano". Because the certificate I'm translating has the whole thing (a virus exóticos para el continente americano), I'd prefer to come up with a translation for the whole phrase. Thanks for your help.
con ese "including" se puede interpretar que es país libre de fiebre aftosa incluído otras enfermedades virales que afectan a las Américas, por ejemplo: rinoneumonitis o artritis viral. Tal vez esté equivocada.
No creo que la frase "que incluye" sea adecuada. Porque lo que el texto quiere decir es que Chile, como país latinoamericano que es, está declarado libre de fiebre aftosa a virus importados de otros lugares. Así lo entiendo yo.
The FMD virus type Asia 1 isolates from outbreaks in Turkey and Greece appear to
be closely related to the virus isolated in Iran in 1999. It was suspected that the virus
probably originated from India and Pakistan
Another type of FMD virus (type O) has been reported in Russia previously. Imports
of FMD risk commodities into the EU and the UK are prohibited with the only
exception being the Murmansk region in the European part of Russia. In this case
fresh meat of reindeer may be imported under specified requirements
There seems to be different types of viruses:
The FMD virus type Asia 1 involved in the recent outbreaks in China, Mongolia and Russia was found to be very closely related to viruses collected in India in 1980-1981
foot-and-mouth disease virus exotic to the Americas
Explanation: I couldn't find any examples of "exotic to the Americas," but there were plenty for other regions, and that appears to be the grammatical structure used. There were only 33 hits for [FMD+"exotic for"] vs. 760 for [FMD+"exotic to"]. Also, it's the virus that's exotic, so it has to appear next to the word "exotic."
