Contexto de venta de productos de belleza. El término aparece así:

"Esperaríamos que con esta bajada en precio las ventas hubieran crecido."

La redacción del original quizás no sea muy buena, pero lo que se quiere decir es que contrariamente a lo que cabría esperar, una bajada en los precios de los productos no resultó en un aumento en las ventas.
