Hi, all.
This is the first time I translate an autopsy protocol. I will appreciate very much if you were so kind to review and suggest any improvements for the fragment translated below.
My main doubts are: “trayecto en sedal”, “halo de contusión” and “tatuaje puntiforme”. I know the meanings of these terms in Spanish, but I am not confident about my translation thereof.
(Context: Forensic medicine, Autopsy protocol):
Cabeza: Una herida por arma de fuego con orificio de entrada oblicuo de 1 x 0.8-cm con **halo de contusión y tatuaje puntiforme** a nivel del pómulo izquierdo. **Trayecto en sedal** de 3 cm hacia abajo y a la derecha con orificio de salida a nivel de la mejilla izquierda y posterior herida rasante en región nasal izquierda. No se aprecian lesiones en cuero cabelludo, la cavidad muestra hemorragia en base del cerebelo.
Head: A wound by firearm with a 1 x 0.8-cm oblique entry wound, with **contusion halo and spot-shaped tattoo** at the left cheek bone level. A 3-cm coiling, downwards and rightwards trajectory with exit wound at the left cheek level, and subsequent wound by grazing shot in the left nasal region. No injuries were noticed on the scalp; the cavity showed hemorrhage at the base of the cerebellum.
(…) Conclusiones: Cuatro (4) heridas por arma de fuego de proyectil único con orificio de entrada en región malar izquierda (con trayecto en sedal y orificio de salida) en región postero-superior derecha e izquierda del tórax producen: Hemorragia intracraneana, fractura de primera vértebra cervical de la columna, fractura de arcos costales con hematoma pulmonar izquierdo, fractura de clavícula izquierda, con laceración en plano vascular braquiocefálico izquierdo, hemotórax, fractura de la segunda vértebra dorsal de la columna, y perforación laríngea. (...)
(…) Conclusions: Four (4) wounds by firearm with a single kind of bullet, with entry wound at the left malar region (with coiling trajectory and exit wound) at the right and left upper regions of the thorax caused: Intracranial hemorrhage, fracture of the first cervical vertebra of the spine, fracture of costal arches, hematoma in the left lung, fracture of the left clavicle, perforation at the left brachycephalic vessel plane, hemothorax, fracture of the second dorsal vertebra of the spine, and perforation of the larynx.
