Spanish to English translations [PRO] Medical
Spanish term or phrase:Nootropico. Trastomo de deficit de atencion hiper
Medical phrase and term, unrelated. Can anyone recommend a good online Spanish-English medical dictionary? I have been unsuccessful with all my usual sources.
Explanation: "Nootropico" = "nootropic," i.e., "having positive effects on organically impaired cognition or nervous-system dysfunction." The adjective is used to describe certain drugs (such as Ritalin). -- There may well be a relation to the phrase "trastorno de deficit de atencion hiper" (note that it's properly spelled "trastoRNo," not" trastoMo"), which refers to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD), because ADD is often treated with Ritalin (methylphenidate). -- Regarding dictionaries, I've not found anything online in the SP > EN medical area, either. However, a good English-language medical dictionary such as Stedman's or Dorland's should serve quite well. -- HTH, HC
