Spanish to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Medical (general) / hypertension drug
Spanish term or phrase:redujo la excreción de albúmina durante dos años.
En pacientes con diabetes y microaolbuminuria, el tratamiento con captopril redujo la excreción de albúmina durante dos años.
My query here is with "durante dos años" - is the meaning "within two years"?
In answer to this: I think you could interpret it as "within a two-year period", which can usually be interpreted as "by the time 2 years were up", ie, "within 2 years"! If you use either of these, you'd need to change the tense to pluperfect:
This might seem like a completely straightforward question. The reason for my asking it is becuase I have read a different report on the same drug, in which they say "albumin excretion was reduced within two years". I suppose I am taking this too far and should just translate what is in front of me and not worry about lack of consistency with other reports. I just wanted to see if anyone may have interpreted it as "within" - I certainly didn't, hence the question. Many thanks!
