Spanish to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general)
Spanish term or phrase:documentado
....fue que el medico no esta bien documentado acerca de su enfermedad (es nueva para el medico),....
Context: a medical report (from Colombia), stating that a patient did not inform his new physician about certain symptoms he started suffering from several months before, because "el medico no esta bien documentado acerca de su enfermedad (es nueva para el medico)..."
This is an important point. Currently the Spanish is ambiguous as to whether the doctor was not familiar with the patient's illness or whether the doctor was not fully informed about the patient's illness. That makes quite a difference!
Just so we know whether "la enfermedad" is "nueva para el médico" or the patient is "nueva para el médico". Maybe you could give us a bit more of the original Spanish.

was not (fully) informed
Explanation: I'm sure there will be other variants along these lines as well, but this should get the ball rolling.

was not familiar
Explanation: "documentado" in this context refers to not being aware of/familiar with the disease. Later on it is explained that it was the first time the doctor had come accross it.
I believe "informed" can be ambiguous as it may lead to the conclusion that someone failed to informed the doctor when it's the doctor himself who failed to do his own research, at least for what I can gather from the context.
