Hello,

I can't find this word anywhere, I need the exact term. It's a doctor that deals with everything mammary related. How do you call it in English?

Thanks!

agree  Filippe Vasconcellos de Freitas Guimarães: Yes indeed. Word is quite rare nowadays, though, most will just use "breast specialist" or "breast care specialist"

  -> thanks Anne

agree  Otto Albers (X): I disagree with fvasconcellos. The specialist has been more and more sought after with the prevention programs in vogue today, and, in our surgical world at least, is defined as such: mastologist.

  -> thanks sirwalter:) and I appreciate your comments

agree  Emma Goldsmith

neutral  Rachel Fell: I agree with fvasconcellos - UK Google wants to make it "dermatologist" and if I put mastologist in "" the first hit is the gloss. instance cited by T'Ann above

disagree  liz askew: the glossary is not always right by any means, as people have pointed out to me:)

disagree  Wendy Gosselin: I can't find a single hit for a U.S. hospital where you can get an appointment with a "mastologist." The Cleveland Clinic talks about "breast care specialists": https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/11559-doctors...

Never came across "mastologist" when my mother had terminal breast cancer and we talked to the Oncology team. Talking of the UK, of course.

"mastologist" is not used generally speaking in the UK and I would ask anyone who disagrees with me to quote some bona fide references to contradict me.

But, hey, what do I know?

Cheers!
