Spanish to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) / Diabetes
Spanish term or phrase:Glucometria
This an apparatus for measuring blood sugar, is there a translation of Glucometria or is it simply blood sugar level? This is the context: Los resultados de una glucometría, últimos resultados en memoria y otras opciones (fecha, hora, día, temperatura y ajustes del equipo) se visualizarán en pantalla
This is not the name of the device (that would be glucometer) but the name of the reading....e.g. spectrometry, - spectrometer is the machine, or calorimetry is the reading/print out/ result and calorimeter is the machine. I use one every day.
Thank you Biomed Sci, that was the subject of my translation, a new device for measuring blood sugar, but I was not sure if the term for the measuring of blood sugar was glucometer, glucometry or simply measuring blood sugar as I have not worked with diabetes for a long time. Thanks for the note anyway.
Blood glucose meters are hand-held devices used by nurses/patients for measuring blood sugar and they also have a function for storing previous results so that the patient has a record of all their readings. Sorry if this is a little simplified, but if you don't know much about diabetes maybe it'll help. Lots of info on internet.

blood sugar level
Explanation: If your translation is for lay people (i.e. users of the glucometer) then I would leave it as "blood sugar level" or even "blood sugar reading". If the audience for your translation is medical personnel, then "glucometry" would be a valid option.
