Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / digital imaging
Spanish term or phrase: corte por plano
The sentence is "La metodología seguida para calcular el volumen en las regiones anatómicas ha consistido en realizar un corte por plano a la imagen, trazando una linea por encima de la región cuyo volumen se quiere calcular."

i always have a terrible time with anything that mentions "corte" (cross-section?) or "plano" (plane?, plate?) and this combines both. i never do medical translations but took this as a favor, so i'm totally lost. really i don't get any of the phrase "realizar un corte por plano a la imagen"...they are doing imaging of bones to determine their exact volume.

Note to reference poster
Asker: that last link is exactly what i was looking for, THANKS! so perhaps "....consisted of taking a slice plane in the image, drawing a line above..." ? the preposition "a" doesn't seem to be correct here, unless it is part of the techy jargon
