Spanish term or phrase:concentrado autólogo de trombocitos
Su estudio nos posibilitó obtener un concentrado autólogo de trombocitos a partir del Plasma Rico en plaquetas del paciente con técnicas que aún hoy siguen mejorando
Although "thrombocyte" is technically correct "platelet" is by far the most used term. In haematology we do "platelet counts", not "thrombocyte counts". We do have "thrombocytopenia" (Spanish plaquetopenia) (low platelet count), and "thrombocytosis" (high platelet count). It is nothing to do with who has authority to use "platelet" or "thrombocyte", it is in the interest of communication.
Of course not! But they are citing a German study, and did not use the term themselves.
"Autologous platelet concentrate" is simply much more common and thus more readily understandable. I don't think you'll find a single instance of the term in the literature authored by native English speakers.
