Abandono de la mina

I agree with almost everybody. I've worked in the mining industry and I have seen mine closedown, shutdown and abandonment. But I agree with Patinba, if you care for environment it should be abandoment and remediation. Nevertheless, in this text I will keep Closedown (they don't like abandonment). Thanks to everybody. All of you deserve the best grading, but how can I grade you all?

This is common parlance in mining/geology, patinba is absolutely correct. An out-of-use mine is also termed "abandoned". :)

Perhaps a cross between Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble. Either way, as pros we don't win until we are right for the way the query is normally said in the target country/industry jargon. It does not really matter whether we eventually get paid, even, in this context. Our interest is to render the right translation. I like that. Clearly, so do you and our participating colleagues, here. What I like best is when someone 'correctly corrects me'. I learn the most that I can use later when this happens. My regards to All.

Abandonment is not the same as shutdown, it implies leaving suddenly, without doing anything, whereas shutdown gives the idea that something is being done to finalize the use of the mine.

Como no les gusta Abandonment (perfectamente correcto) tal vez estaban pensando en mine remediation (que debería ser la última etapa de cualquier proyecto minero)
