cruiser sounds fine

Explanation:
that's for a private sailng craft; a large commercial one where people pay to go on cruises, for example to the Bahamas or Greek Isles, is a cruise ship

Hi, Berni -- is this yacht a sailing vessel or (ahem) a stinkpot?

Explanation:
If it's a power vessel, "cruiser" (or possibly "blue-water cruiser," if it's of major size) would fit.

If it's a real boat (grin), the customary basic distinction between racing and cruising vessels comes into play. In this case, the best approach would be to identify its type (sloop, ketch, yawl, whatever) and length, which will give the reader a good idea of its purpose and capabilities. (The phrase "ocean-going yacht" also comes to mind.) Absent anysize and/or type characterization, "cruising yacht" would be my suggestion.

Best, HC
