overhang Explanation: This looks like some Portuguese has leaked into the Spanish. Should be: *bases avanZadas*... In the case of kitchen cabinets set on the floor, the base is *recessed* and the actual storage area is raised about four inches, so when people stand in front of them to work, they don't bump their toes. The usual way to express this in English would be to talk of a cabinet *overhand*, rather than referring to how far back the cabinet base in recessed. Oxford SuperLex |
